  • "This means that shipments of these products from this manufacturer will be detained by CBP, but importers may submit proof demonstrating that their shipment of the subject merchandise was not produced with forced labour, or they may elect to export the merchandise," the spokesperson said.

    "If the information provided does not demonstrate to CBP that the goods were not produced with forced labour, CBP will exclude the merchandise from entry to the US Commerce," they added.

    "CBP cannot speculate on the projected impact of the new law's forced labour provisions on specific industries," the agency's spokesperson told IM, adding however that "the use of forced labour in other areas is well-documented".
