Since its extinction as a breeding species in Mallorca by the end of the 1970s, it has often been observed in the northern area of Mallorca. In 1993. a nest with a nestling of the Egyptian Vulture was found in the Serra de Tramuntana (Mallorca). It is very likely that this species was already breedin; in the island in 1989, when young birds began to be observed.
