  • Resumen
    • Potassium chloride (KCl) output for Uralkali, one of the largest potash suppliers in the world, fell 4% to 2.6m tonnes in the first quarter compared with Q1 2015.

The two companies previously worked together as part of a JV - Belarusian Potash Co. (BPC) - but Uralkali withdrew from the partnership in 2013 to operate independently. The departure transformed the global potash market from a duopoly with US-based Cantopex Ltd (the marketing arm for Agrium Inc., Potash Corp. of Saskatchen and The Mosaic Co.) into a three player market.

German potash and salt producer K+S AG has reported a decline in Q2 2016 revenue before interest and tax to EUR 10m ($11m*), down more than ten-fold compared with EUR 179.2m reported for the same period the previous year, due to lower average prices of potash and magnesium products.
