Resumen de La presencia de la traducción en la obra de fray Francisco Palou

Eleuterio Carracedo Arroyo

  • The biography of Frey Junípero Serra, written by the Father Francisco Palou, introduces their multilingual reality while these Franciscans‟ evangelists carried out their undertakings. It was written in Spanish, including many quotes and references in Latin together with indigenous expressions.

These expressions are bounded to the background of the native communities. With them, it is possible to gain a further knowledge of the inhabitants‟ environment in the areas of Sierra Gorda (Mexico) and both Californias at the second part of the XVIII century.
