Ke Fang at the University of Maryland and Kohta Murase at Pennsylvania State University have found a way to get all three types of particles from a single source. They suspected the particles might share a common origin because they all bring about the same amount of energy to detectors on Earth. Murase and Fang simulated a cosmic ray's path from the centre of a cluster of galaxies to their detectors. Kim Weaver at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center says this solution to the mystery is plausible.
