Resumen de Una aproximación al estudio del discurso de las mujeres niqabi en España

Con el presente artículo se pretende arrojar luz sobre cómo se presentan y se auto definen las “mujeres niqabi” residentes en España a partir del significado que otorgan estas mujeres al niqab. A su vez y como objetivo específico hemos tratado de averiguar en base a qué articulan, formulan y explican el niqab. Para ello hemos entrevistado a las propias mujeres encontrando que sus discursos son altamente homogéneos y de carácter fundamentalista. En concreto, se han llevado a cabo doce entrevistas a mujeres niqabi con el fin de responder a estas dos preguntas específicas; que significados dan estas mujeres al niqab y cuáles son sus referentes políticos, religiosos y sociales a la hora de optar por el mismo.
Como resultado de esta aproximación investigadora se advierte una corriente creciente de aliento y apoyo para que las mujeres musulmanas hagan niqab.

This article aims to shed some light on how niqabi women in Spain present and define themselves according to the meaning they attach to the niqab. In addition, a specific objective of the study was to find out how these women articulate, formulate and explain the niqab. For the purpose of the study, we interviewed twelve women. The only common requirement for being part of the sample was to be a niqabi living in Spain. We therefore decided to use non-probability sampling. At the same time, we employed the «snowball» sampling technique whereby the sample was contacted in two specific ways:
through different Internet social media and using key informants to recruit participants for the face-to-face interviews. The interviews focused on two very specific questions: what meaning do the women attach to the niqab and what are their political, religious and social motivations for wearing it.
