    En este artículo se comparan diversas orientaciones de las ciencias gerenciales acerca del papel que juega en la actualidad el gerente-líder venezolano mediante un análisis explicativo de los aspectos que complejizan la aplicación de las concepciones de gerencia y liderazgo, describiendo su diferencias y la manera cómo se presentan en las organizaciones venezolanas. Asimismo, se exponen algunos enfoques característicos que definen a la gerencia y el liderazgo en los últimos tiempos, los cuales deben ser asumidos por el nuevo gerente-líder frente a sus necesidades existenciales.

    In this article diverse orientations from management sciences as to the role played by the Venezuelan manager-leader are compared through an explanatory analysis of the complex aspects involved in the concepts of management and leadership, describing their differences and the way in which they are presented in Venezuelan organizations. Also, some characteristic approaches are explained that define management and leadership in recent times, and which should be assumed by new manager-leaders in the face of existing requirements.
