Resumen de Shrimp claw shoots a savage shock wave

Aylin Woodward

  • Phoevos Koukouvinis at City, University of London, and his team simulated the snap of the pistol shrimp's claw. The team found that when this happens, friction between the fast-moving jet and the surrounding still water creates a swirling vortex. The vortex leaves a void in the center. Eventually, that void collapses, releasing a powerful pressure wave
