  A complex volume of information needs to be collected to undertake an integrated analysis of the Loire basin. The use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for such data offers unquestionable advantages in terms of information management (collection, recording, storage and updating). Above all, such systems provide a valuable means of exploring (consultation and visualisation) and analysing data, making them an ideal tool for a diagnostic approach. This also represents a sound method to consider the question of the integrated management of the entire river basin.

  L'information qu'il faut collecter pour réaliser un diagnostic global du bassin de la Loire est volumineuse et complexe. Son organisation sous forme d'un Système d'Information Géographique (SIG) offre des avantages indéniables en termes de gestion d'information (collecte, saisie, stockage, mise à jour). Mais surtout elle offre des capacités précieuses en matière d'exploration (consultation, visualisation) et d'analyse de données qui en fait un outil très adapté à une démarche de diagnostic. C'est aussi une bonne manière d'aborder la question des outils nécessaires à la gestion globale de l'ensemble d'un bassin.
