  • According to USGS data, India is the world largest garnet producer having produced 800,000 tonnes in 2016, while ilmenite output was at 200,000 tonnes in 2016, equivalent to aproximately 3% of global supply. The Madras high court was initially scheduled to deliver its verdict on 27 March, but the hearing was adjourned to end-April, Tamil Nadu department of geology and two local producers told IM.
