  • Cooper questions the halt of abuse towards blood-oxygen-boosting agent erythropoietin (EPO) despite studies claiming that injecting EPO or saline is no better than placebo. He emphasizes the unethical coaches where harnessing the placebo effect is a key part of it and injections are great placebos. He adds that ifimprovements are seen in an athlete's performance, coaches will dismiss contradictory papers as irrelevant to the athlete.
