Resumen de La culture pour tous les étudiants ? Les usages sociaux et scolaires d’un instrument de démocratisation culturelle

  This article examines the use of a tool of cultural democratization for students. On the one hand, our analysis challenges the view according to which access to the tool is rather “democratic”. On the other hand, the analysis shows variations of its appropriation. It is explained by various artistic and cultural dispositions, produced by successive socializations. Students who use it are most favored socially and/or students in Arts and Literature, particularly students who want to be professionals of the cultural sector. These are not only students who have artistic and cultural dispositions, but also and especially students whose dispositions are activated and strengthened within the context of study. The analysis underlines the conditions of activation, standby, and strengthening of cultural dispositions within the academic institution.

  Cet article interroge les usages d’un instrument de démocratisation culturelle à destination des étudiants. Si l’accès au dispositif étudié est plutôt « démocratique », l’analyse montre une appropriation variable de celui-ci qui s’explique par des dispositions artistiques et culturelles diverses, produit de socialisations successives. Les étudiants qui utilisent le plus le dispositif sont les plus favorisés socialement et/ou ceux qui étudient en Lettres et Arts, particulièrement ceux qui se destinent aux métiers du secteur culturel. Ce sont non seulement les étudiants qui détiennent des dispositions artistiques et culturelles, mais aussi et surtout ceux dont les dispositions sont activées et renforcées au sein du contexte d’étude. L’enquête rend ainsi compte des conditions d’activation, de mise en veille et de renforcement de dispositions culturelles au sein de l’institution universitaire.
