Resumen de My dragonfly flies upside down! Using Second Life in multimedia design to teach students programming.

Nicole Cargill-Kipar

  • The article discusses a project at Heriot-Watt University that employed the Second Life virtual-reality environment to teach students multimedia programming skills. Several behavior were observed. In some instances students interacted positively to assist each other's efforts in pursuit of a common goal. However, there were also instances of adverse interactions where conflicts over available resources lead to students erasing one another's work. Inequitable distributions of workloads also arose. Overall, the project demonstrated the importance of teamwork and negotiating skills to working in the Second Life environment.
