    El trabajo se ocupa de los orígenes y la historia de la familia de Tullio Ascarelli, desde el siglo XII hasta los comienzos del siglo XX. Se trata de una historia que conecta estrechamente al gran jurista con España. De hecho, Tullio Ascarelli provenía de una antigua e ilustre familia de hebreos sefardíes expulsados de España en 1492 y desde entonces establecidos en Roma, habiendo pertenecido a ella importantes banqueros y comerciantes, famosos rabinos y médicos, refinados intelectuales y literatos, en ocasiones también encargados de funciones públicas y de la dirección de su comunidad. Entre ellos merecen especial mención dos mujeres, Debora Ascarelli y Ada Sereni Ascarelli, a las que el trabajo dedica atención particular.

    The study investigates the origins and history of Tullio Ascarelli’s family, starting from the twelfth century up to the beginning of the twentieth century. It is a history that deeply connects the great Italian jurist to Spain. Indeed, Tullio Ascarelli descended from an ancient and famous family of Sephardic Jews, driven out of Spain in 1492 and subsequently settled in Rome. The family has included important bankers and merchants, famous rabbis and doctors, sophisticated intellectuals and writers, who have often held public offices and been responsible for guiding their Community. Among these ancestors, two women deserve a special mention: Debora Ascarelli and Ada Sereni Ascarelli, on whom this work also focuses.
