Resumen de Diferenciação funcional e organizações religiosas na modernidade: uma análise teórica com base no pentecostalismo no Brasil

  In this paper we discuss the role of religious organizations based on Niklas Luhmann's theory of functional differentiation. Based on the thesis of functional differentiation as a defining form of modern society and the relationship between religion and other social spheres, we argue that the multiplicity of functional orientations resulting from the non-convergence between the perspectives of the different social subsystems should be the starting point of the empirical analyzes of religious organizations in modernity. We demonstrate the theoretical argument through an analysis of religious organizations that are guided by pentecostal structures and semantics in the search for the conversion of believers in the Brazilian religious field.

  Neste artigo objetivamos discutir o papel das organizações religiosas com base na teoria da diferenciação funcional de Niklas Luhmann. Partindo de uma reflexão sobre a diferenciação funcional como forma definidora da sociedade moderna e da relação entre religião e as demais esferas sociais, argumentamos que a multiplicidade de orientações funcionais, decorrente da não convergência entre as perspectivas dos distintos subsistemas sociais, deve ser o ponto de partida das análises empíricas sobre organizações religiosas na modernidade. O argumento teórico é demonstrado com base em análise de organizações religiosas que se orientam por estruturas e semânticas pentecostais na busca pela conversão de fiéis no campo religioso brasileiro.
