An editorial is presented in which the editor discusses the journal's method of selecting papers to publish and argues that open access publishing is not sustainable and will not lead to higher impact factors. The economic problems facing scholarly journals including lack of library budgets to buy their journals and pressure from supporting institutions are also touched on.
