    Some of the processes that have caused the existence of false friends between Spanish and Portuguese will be examined. The different meanings expressed by som e words with the same spelling and pronunciation (with little variants because of the different linguistic systems they belong to) are due to linguistic and social causes .

    Resumo Analizar - se - ão alguns processos linguísticos que provocaram a existência d e falsos cognatos entre a língua espanhola e a portuguesa. A semântica que exprimem algumas palavras de igual pronúncia e ortografia (com pequenas variantes devido aos sistemas linguísticos diversos a que pertencem) responde a causas linguísticas e sociais .
