Resumen de Spray-on touchpad brings objects to life

Matt Reynolds

  • Chris Harrison used the Electrik to create a touch-sensitive steering wheel that could detect whether it was being held. This could tell an autonomous car when a human was driving, for example. They also created touch controls for a guitar, such as a tremolo bar, and a brain-shaped jelly that can sense where it is being prodded. Electrik can be used to create touch-sensitive 3D-printed object as well. By adding conductive material to plastic, the team printed a touch-sensitive toy drum. Harrison thinks that manufacturers could use this approach to print touch-sensitive remote controls or replace physical buttons on household appliances with touch-sensitive areas.
