Resumen de Dinámica productiva del sector automotriz y la manufactura en la frontera norte de México: Un análisis con datos de panel, 1980-2014

  Resumen Se analiza la relación entre la dinámica de crecimiento de la producción de la manufactura y el sector automotriz en las entidades federativas de la frontera norte de México (Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León y Tamaulipas). Se aporta evidencia empírica sobre cómo la dinámica de crecimiento de la industria automotriz ha impulsado el avance de la manufactura en la región. Se estima un modelo con datos de panel para la producción de la manufactura en las entidades de la frontera norte. Los resultados sugieren que el sector automotriz, sin ser el único factor, está empujando el crecimiento manufacturero en la zona norte del país, generando importantes beneficios, en variables como IED, empleo, producción, calificación de mano de obra, entre otros.

  Abstract It analyzes the link between the manufacturing and automotive sector in the federal entities of the northern border of Mexico (Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas). It provides empirical evidence that the growth dynamics of the automotive sector in this region has driven the manufacturing growth. A model is estimated with panel data of the production of manufacturing in the entities of the region. The results suggest that the automotive industry, without being the only factor, is driving the growth of manufacturing in the northern region of the country. This creates important benefits in variables, such as IED, employment, production, and manufacturing rating among others.
