La iniciación deportiva desde una perspectiva educativa, es un proceso que comienza preferentemente antes de la pubertad, en la que se pretende contribuir al desarrollo integral del niño mediante una práctica deportiva acorde con la adquisición de unas actitudes y valores positivos. Este trabajo es una investigación analítico descriptiva sobre los Juegos Deportivos de la provincia de Jaén. Se describe y analiza el nivel de participación global en los últimos cinco años de los chicos/as con edades comprendidas entre los 10 y 17 años, diferenciando sexos, categorías, comarcas y especialidad deportiva.
Igualmente se analizan las causas que determinan los diferentes valores de participación y se establecen consideraciones de mejora, con el objetivo de dar respuestas a la hipótesis inicial de, si los JDP satisfacen la promoción y participación deportiva en la provincia. Como estrategias de recogida de datos, nos hemos centrado en el análisis documental de los datos recogidos anualmente por la Diputación Provincial en las memorias de los JDP. Estos datos han sido procesados en tablas de agrupación. Además, hemos empleado la entrevista con los diferentes coordinadores comarcales deportivos para interpretar los datos. En relación con las infraestructuras deportivas, se han utilizado los informes de los coordinadores y la Encuesta de Infraestructuras deportivas de la Diputación.

The sports initiation from an educational perspective, is a process that begins preferably before the puberty, that pretends to contribute to contribute to the integral development of the child by means of a sports practice according to the acquisition of a few attitudes and positive values. This report is an analytical and descriptive research on the Sports Games of the province of Jaen. Here it is described and analyzed the level of global participation in the last five years of the boys / girls by ages between 10 and 17 years, as per sex, categories, regions/areas and sports speciality. Equally, there are analyzed the reasons that determine the different values of participation and considerations of improvement are established, with the aim to give answers to the initial hypothesis of, if the JDP satisfy the promotion and sports participation in the province. As strategies of withdrawal of information, we have centered on the documentary analysis of the information gathered anually by the Deputation/County Council on the reports of the JDP. This information has been tried in tables of group. In addition, we have used the interview with the different regional sports coordinators to interpret the information. In relation with the sports infrastructures, there have been in use the reports of the coordinators and the Survey of sports Infrastructures of the Deputation/County Council.
