Resumen de Wealth can't always buy health

Jessica Hamzelou

  • Inequality is at a historic high in the US, driving a huge health gap between rich and poor. But wealth is only part of the story--racism means that even minorities on a high income have worse health. "Income inequality has increased dramatically, to levels not seen since before the Great Depression," says Jacob Bor at Boston University, Massachusetts. His team has reviewed research on the life expectancies of the richest and poorest in the US between 1980 and 2015. They found that not only is the health gap growing, but health is becoming more strongly linked to financial status.
