Hermann Rorschach, a psychiatrist working alone in a remote Swiss asylum, had invented the inkblot method in 1917 and published it in 1921. After extensive revisions, Rorschach decided on 10 inkblots to make up the test. The same 10 are still used today, 100 years on.
