    Este artículo introductorio presenta las descripciones de postmodernidad de distintos autores, con el fin de determinar sus rasgos constitutivos. La variedad de posiciones aconseja dirigir la mirada a la inspiración de fondo de esta etapa histórica, a sus fundamentos filosóficos. La postmodernidad no renuncia a las claves que inspiraron la modernidad, sino que más bien las exaspera, llevándolas hasta sus últimas consecuencias. Más que un proyecto o una tesis positiva, la postmodernidad está formada por un conjunto de negaciones, por la conciencia del sinsentido del ser y de la historia.

    This introductory article presents different author’s descriptions of Postmodernity with the purpose of determining its constitutive traits. The varied panorama of current opinions suggests focusing on the underlying inspiration of this historical period and its philosophical foundations. Postmodernity does not reject the basic inspirations of modernity, but rather exasperates them, taking them to its ultimate consequences. Instead of a project or positive thesis, postmodernity is formed by a conglomerate of negations, by a conscience of the nonsensicality of the being and of history.
