Resumen de El amor y la virtud como claves antropológicas para el logro de la felicidad en San Agustín

El propósito de este artículo es hacer ver que en la antropología de San Agustín –que puede calificarse de moral– existen dos claves fundamentales para el logro de la felicidad: el amor y virtud. No es suficiente para alcanzarla el conocimiento de la verdad, sino que hay que dirigirse hacia la verdad. Lo que mueve a hacerlo es el amor. Pero como el hombre es libre, puede no amar lo mejor. De ahí la necesidad de la virtud, que encauza al hombre a poner orden en el amor. Sólo amando lo que se debe amar, el hombre puede ser feliz. En este sentido, el amor y la virtud son claves antropológicas para el logro de la felicidad.

The purpose of this article is to emphasize the fact that in Saint Augustine’s Anthropology –that is mostly a moral one– there are two important clues in the pursuit of happiness: love and virtue. In this task, it is not enough the knowledge of the truth, but to go for it. The profound reason why men move towards it is love. However, men are free they may not love what is their best accordingly to truth. That’s why they need virtue, which guides them to put order in their own love. Only loving what is ought to be loved men can be happy. In this sense, love and virtue are anthropological keys to achieve happiness.
