La inculturación del cristianismo en Asia, a partir de finales del siglo XVI, obligó a los misioneros a escribir obras para hacer llegar a los fieles los contenidos básicos la fe cristiana. Es el caso del libro de Diego Collado, O.P., Modus confitendi et examinandi poenitentem iaponensem suamet lingua laponica, publicada en Roma en 1632 por la Congregación de Propaganda Fide. Esta obra fue escrita en japonés para que aprendieran el idioma los misioneros que querían entrar en Japón a asistir a los cristianos perseguidos.

The inculturation of Christianity in Asia, from the end of the Sixteenth Century, forced the missionaries to write works to bring to the faithful the basic contents of the Christian faith. This is the case of the book of Fr. Diego Collado, O.P., Modus confitendi et examenandi poenitentem iaponensem suamet lingua iaponica, published in Rome in 1632 by the Congregation of Propaganda Fide. This book was written in Japanese and Latin, together with a Japanese-Spanish-Latin dictionary and a Japanese grammar for language learners who wanted to enter Japan to assist persecuted Christians.
