Las ordenanzas establecidas por el Concejo de Salamanca en los siglos XV y XVI permiten establecer un control férreo sobre las mercancías que circulan por la ciudad. Se establece la obligatoriedad de declararlas cuando sobrepasan las seis libras y cuarterón, de este modo se vigila la calidad de los productos y sus condiciones sanitarias. Además, todas ellas deben pasar por el peso mayor situado en la plazuela de San Martín.
The by-laws paáed by the Council of Salamanca during the 15th century and 16th century established a rigid control over the goods that were in circulation in the city. It was obligatory to declare them when they weighed more than six and a quarter pounds, thus establishing a control over the quality of the products and the conditions of hygiene.
