  • The article discusses research on the alleged lack of medicinal benefits from cryotherapy, or cold therapy, which is often used by athletes to treat achy joints and joint pain. An overview of the role that applying ice packs to joint injuries plays in reducing joint pain, including in comparison with cold therapy's use of a cold gas and ice packs' impact on the body temperature and pain reduction, is provided.
