Desde la conquista cristiana en el siglo XIII se conformó en Alicante una élite dirigente, de la que pronto formó parte el linaje Burgunyó. Señores de la localidad de Agost, el grueso de sus rentas procedía del campo, pero también del comercio y el corso. Residentes en Alicante, este linaje de terratenientes, funcionarios y eclesiásticos, creó en estos siglos medievales su patrimonio, ocupó cargos dirigentes al frente de la localidad y al servicio de la Corona, enlazando por vía matrimonial con las otras familias del patriciado local.

Since the Christian conquest in the XIII century, a ruling class in Alicante was created, of which the Burgunyó lineage soon became part off. Lords of the Agost locality, the bulk of the rents came from the field, but also from commerce and privateering. Citizens of Alicante, this lineage of landlords, officials and ecclesiastics, they build in these medieval centuries its patrimony, they held leadership positions at their community and to the Crowns service, connecting via marriage with the other families of the local patriciate.
