This paper analyzes the existing translations in the Brazilian publishing market of one of the "orilleros" short stories - taking place in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires - by the Argentinean writer Jorge Luis Borges, entitled História de Rosendo Juarez. This study shows that those translations end up homogenizing the characters' local jargon to the Portuguese language pattern.
