Resumen de El antiguo estadio Colombino de Huelva: Identidad, cultura y poder

El presente trabajo estudia un elemento específico dentro del municipio de Huelva capital: el antiguo Estadio Colombino. Un edificio, como tantos otros en la ciudad, sobre el que la Historia no ha reparado más allá de su mera presencia como sede deportiva. Este artículo ofrece otra perspectiva de su valor dentro de un contexto histórico-cultural que arranca con el auge de la minería británica en la provincia y desemboca en la inevitable construcción del estadio, por parte de las autoridades locales, un lugar que recogía ese legado británico, pero a la vez dotaba a la ciudad de identidad propia. Analizaremos aspectos básicos para entender el proceso identitario en torno a este lugar hasta que el edificio desapareció.

The present research deals with a specific item in Huelva municipality: old Colombino stadium. History has no paid enough attention on it, as with other buildings, but as a place for sport. The article offers a different perspective on the value in a historic and cultural context which began, with the rising of the mining activity in the province and it ended with the construction of the stadium by the local authorities. The building came from British heritage but it also gave identity to the city. We analyze basic aspects for understanding the identity process around the building until its demolition.
