  • Resumen
    • Adee cites the effect of faking people's Internet persona. Rachel Grieve and Jarrah Watkinson at the University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia, have found that when their self-presentation diverges too much from who they really are it can lead to stress and feelings of social disconnection. Understanding their Internet persona is important to researchers, advertisers and governments alike, keen to mine insights from their online activities. But it's often not clear how their real-life identity maps to the version of themselves they present on social networks. Grieve and Watkinson have found out that trying to be someone they're not carries an emotional and mental toll--just as it would offline.
