  • The article discusses farmers' efforts to prevent the pest Western corn rootworms from destroying corn crops in the U.S. Midwest, including the agribusiness Monsanto's development of JOURetically modified hybrid corn. The use of the technology known as RNA interference (RNAi) insecticide in corn to cause the rootworns to die after eating it is discussed.
