    • The article reports that according to a study published in the September 2017 issue of the "Environmental Science & Technology," poplar tree generating toxin-degrading bacteria as an efficient cleanup method if planted over areas of heavy tainted groundwater. Topics include planted for removing the carcinogen trichloroethylene (TCE) from lightly contaminated groundwater, soils surrounding poplars having more chlorine ions and microbe-enriched trees having wider trunks indicating growth.
