  • Page talks about a genetically modified animals with organs suitable for human transplantation. The idea is to create a pig embryo that is incapable of developing, say, its own heart. Instead, human stem cells are injected into the embryo, and grow into a human heart inside the pig. This idea has been around for decades, but only recently has a series of experiments by Hiromitsu Nakauchi at the University of Tokyo, Japan, shown the basic concept to be sound.
