  • Import volumes fell year-on-year, but still showed a general long-term uptrend in demand and consumption.Chinese imports of chromite fell at the beginning of this year compared with January 2017, but rose month-on-month from December’s volumes, according to data from Chinese customs authorities. [...]January’s imports were higher than the 2017 monthly average of 1.16 million tonnes. Industrial Minerals last assessed the price of foundry-grade chromite, 46% Cr2O3, wet bulk, at $480-500 per tonne fob South Africa in mid-March.
