  • Here, Ravilious says the spectrum produced by the edge of the polygon is clearly very different to the center, although only further analysis will reveal if that difference represents a sign of life. This is the first time astrobiologist Charles Cockell's team has collected samples from the polygon rocks, something he has had an ambition to do ever since NASA's Opportunity rover recorded similar formations on Mars. Five-o-clock arrives and all troop back to the lift shaft, ready the cramped ride to the surface.
