    Rio Tinto’s zircon customers are uncertain whether they will receive second-quarter supplies on time after protests by workers halted operations at Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) in South Africa.

    The company had previously declared force majeure to its titanium dioxide feedstock customers but buyers of zircon, which RBM supplies on quarterly contracts, are awaiting greater clarity.

    One buyer told Industrial Minerals that that he knew of “no firm date [for a] resolution of the situation.”
