The start-up of another in-basin sand mine in the US later this year highlights growing regional demand.
Emerge Energy Services has started development on a new frac sand mine in Oklahoma, United States, that will meet rapidly growing fracking demand in the region, the company announced on June 5.
“Demand for in-basin fine mesh product is strong, and we have validated the appetite for local Oklahoma sand with several key customers operating in the Mid-Continent basin,” Emerge chief executive officer Rick Shearer said.
Production at the Oklahoma plant, which will have nameplate capacity of 1.5 million short tons per year, is set to start by the end of the year after construction begins by mid-June.
