Demand for magnesia is set to increase steadily over the next few years given growth in downstream sectors, IHS Markit predicted.
Favorable economic conditions and a positive outlook for demand for refractory grade magnesia from the downstream steel industry should equate to an average annual growth rate of 1.3% to 2021, according to IHS Markit.
Growth in industrial construction should also continue to boost demand for non-refractory magnesia, Samantha Wietlisbach, director of minerals research and analyst at IHS, told delegates.
