Resumen de La perspectiva de género en la organización indígena del Cauca: aproximación a una retrospectiva histórica

El presente ensayo ofrece una aproximación a la manera cómo las comunidades indígenas organizadas en el Consejo Regional Indígena del Cauca (CRIc), han abordado laperspectiva de género en el proceso de organización y lucha que iniciaron en la década de los setenta en procura de lograr su reconocimiento social y político, ampliar sus territorios ancestrales y mejorar sus condiciones de vida entre otros.
Después de señalar brevemente el cúmulo de discriminaciones económicas, sociales, políticas y culturales padecidas históricamente por estas comunidades, el ensayo procura en primer termino, identificar el papel asignado y cumplido por hombres y mujeres en los procesos de producción, organización y lucha, y en segundo lugar, revisar y analizar las orientaciones y políticas definidas por la organización indígena referente al tema de género. Concluye resaltando los desafíos que enfrenta hoy día el movimiento indígena del Cauca y deja expuesta la inquietud de cómo las nuevas condiciones afectarán las relaciones de género al interior de estos pueblos.

This essay is an approach to the way in which indigenous communities organized in the Regional Indigenous Council of the Cauca Department (Spanish acronym: CRIC), have considered the gender perspective in the process of organization and struggle that they started during the 1970s in order to achieve social and political acknowledgement, extend their ancestral territories and improve their living conditions, among other things.
After a brief description of the host of economic, social, political and cultural types of discrimination historically underwent by these communities, the essay firstly identifies the role assigned to and fulfilled by man and women in production, organization and struggle processes, and, secondly, it reviews and analyzes orientations and policies defined by the 'indigenous organization regarding the ender topie. The essay concludes underlining the challenges currently faced by the indigenous movement of the Cauca department and puts forward the preoccupation ofhow new conditions will affect gender relations within these peoples.
