Resumen de Immanuel Wallerstein e o sistema-mundo: uma teoria ainda atual?

  Based on the work of Immanuel Wallerstein, who studied the formation of the world system, and the world’s division into three hierarchical levels - central, periphery and semi-periphery -, this article aims to explain Wallerstein ́s World System Theory (WST), making an aggiornamento in its validity for understanding the structure of today’s world, as well as to verify the extent to which WSM is still valid as an analytical category in today’s global society in its social, political and economic relations. It is our view that all social theory, as this of Wallerstein ́s, has to contribute to the understanding of reality, especially the asymmetrical relations of the globalized world. Thus, based on TSM, we found that the world has been structured to replicate the world-system, through institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, IDB, UN, among others, and we analyzed the consequences of this structure manifested in the international division of labor in exploitation of natural resources, labor, capital and the liberal peace model

  Baseado na obra de Immanuel Wallerstein, que estuda a formação do sistema-mundo e a divisão do mundo em três níveis hierárquico – centro, periferia e semi-periferia -, este artigo tem como objetivo explicitar a Teoria do Sistema Mundo (TSM) de Wallerstein, fazendo um aggiornamento em sua validade para a compreensão da estrutura do mundo atual, bem como o de verificar em que medida a TSM é ainda válida como categoria analítica à sociedade global hodierna em suas relações sócio-político-econômicas. É de nosso entender que toda teoria social, como esta de Wallerstein, tem a contribuir para a compreensão da realidade, especialmente as relações assimétricas do mundo globalizado. Assim, baseado na TSM, verificamos que o mundo foi estruturado para reproduzir o sistema-mundo, através de instituições como o Banco Mundial, FMI, BID, ONU, entre outras, e analisamos as consequências dessa estrutura manifestadas na divisão internacional do trabalho, na exploração dos recursos naturais, mão de obra, capital e mesmo no modelo de paz liberal da ONU
