  • This opinion piece discusses the proposed expansion of government under U.S. President Barack Obama. The author uses examples produced by the field of public economics to explain why an increased investment in publicly valuable goods such as energy infrastructure, health care, and education can improve the overall economic status of the U.S. The fact that taxes will need to increase so as to finance such growth is also considered.
