This opinion piece describes the author's visit to the Aviarios Sloth Rescue Center in Costa Rica. This visit was carried out while on a cruise that traveled through the Panama Canal, which enabled the author to visit the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute on Barro Colorado Island in Gatun Lake, Panama. The veterinary services offered by the Aviarios Sloth Rescue Center are described.
