  • The article reports the discovery of a sensory connection between physical touch and the perception of speech. A study by McGill University and Haskins Laboratories neuroscientist David Ostry is described, which found that when a mechanical device tugged a subject's mouth upward or downward, the subject's immediate perception of spoken words was influenced.
