The article discusses insights into the plasticity of the human brain that have been gleaned from the treatment of amblyopia (lazy eye). The ability to teach the brain to function normally by stimulating defective circuits for individuals with such brain-wiring problems as schizophrenia, epilepsy, and autism is discussed.
