  • The article reports on the findings of a study published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA. It states that Mormon crickets swarm across western North America in an effort to avoid being eaten by one another. Scientists studied a swarm in Idaho and found that the crickets were cannibals. When provided with food, they preferred meals high in protein and salt.
