  • Resumen
    • The article reports on the efforts of the U.S. security products manufacturer Armor Holdings, based in Jacksonville, Florida to develop new armor systems to better protect army vehicles and personnel. According to Tony Russell, chief technology officer at the company, the new systems must sustain repeated armor piercing bullet hits, fragments and blasts from explosives. Also, the armor should be as light as possible. One recent improvement is an optimized version of ultrahigh-hardness steel called UH56. INSET: NEED TO KNOW: SHIELDS UP!.
