The article reports on a study by biologist Tyrone Hayes and other scientists at the University of California, Berkeley which found that combinations of chemicals are harmful to development even when in doses that would render them individually safe. The scientists tested herbicides, fungicides and insecticides commonly used in U.S. cornfields. Frogs and tadpoles exposed to the chemicals combined at low individual doses suffered endemic infections and most died. Endocrine disruption due to chemical interference may be also happening in humans. INSET: HUMAN DISRUPTION.
