The article reports that the U.S. company Waste Management and Processors, Inc. will build the first coal to diesel production facility in Gilberton, Pennsylvania. Interest in the process of converting coal into fuel has gained attention because of the high price of oil. The process can use waste coal, coal that is discarded because of its low energy content. The fuel produced is cleaner than conventional, sulfur free fuel. Tests have shown that it releases 10% of the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. INSET: ISOLATION TO INNOVATION.
