  • Resumen
    • The author discusses the self-help movement in the U.S. He cites the book "SHAM: How the Self-Help Movement Made America Helpless" by journalist Steve Salerno. Salerno was a self-help book editor at Rodale Press, and explains that market surveys show that the most likely buyers of books in a given topic are people who bought a similar book within eighteen months preceding the current purchase. He explains that the books offer a temporary source of inspiration that fades quickly.
